The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid today (1 January) at the Cox's Bazar Development Authority office following allegations that its officials were extorting money in exchange for services.

During the drive, the ACC quizzed some officials of the institution and directed the accused to provide explanations by appearing at ACC Office tomorrow (2 January).

A team led by Assistant Director of ACC's Cox's Bazar Office Md Shakhawat Hossain conducted the drive from 2pm to 4pm.

Confirming the matter, Shakhawat said they will send a report to the higher authority after looking into the matter more closely.

He stated that the allegations against the institution's authorised officials could not be substantiated as they failed to provide any records.

The officials are expected to submit the records tomorrow, and if the records reveal any irregularities, an inquiry will be recommended, he added.

Chairman of Cox's Bazar Development Authority Commodore Md Nurul Absar was absent during the drive.
