Contracts to be cancelled if garbage collectors charge over Tk70 per household: Ctg mayor

Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Sahadat Hossain has announced that if any waste collection company charges more than the fixed Tk70 per household for garbage collection, its contract will be cancelled.
While speaking in a meeting yesterday (13 October) afternoon at the CCC office, the mayor said there was previously no fixed guideline for household waste collection and that many collectors charged arbitrarily.
"Now, a maximum fee of Tk70 per household has been set. If anyone charges more, the company's contract will be cancelled. Separate rates have been set for shops, industries, factories and floating markets," he added.
Sahadat also announced that on 21 October, a consultation meeting on the city corporation's door-to-door programme will be held at the International Convention Centre with various important officials.
To facilitate complaints and suggestions from city residents, a new app called Amader Chattogram will be launched at the event, through which residents will be able to upload pictures and report issues related to drains, manhole covers, dustbins or canals directly, he added.
"Through this app, we aim to make citizen services more effective and people-friendly," the mayor said.
