A container truck carrying 2,700kg of stolen yarn from Narayanganj was seized by police in Munshiganj today (6 March).

The truck and the three individuals involved in the theft were apprehended at around 12pm in Haldia, Louhajang.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdur Rahman from Zajira in Shariatpur, Monir Gazi from Golachipa, and Akash Sheikh, 21, from Sreenagar in Munshiganj.

According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Salma Begum of Louhajang police station, the container, loaded with 2,700kg of waste yarn from Epyllion Group in Gazipur, was on its way to Narayanganj yesterday night.

"The truck was parked in Narayanganj's Panchabati area around midnight for unloading. In the absence of the driver, the suspects stole the yarn and the container," said SI Salma.

"The following morning, the vehicle collided with a banyan tree in front of Jagarani Field in Haldia union, Louhajang. When locals arrived at the scene, they became suspicious of the three individuals in the truck."

She added, "Upon questioning, the suspects were unable to provide any valid documents. We later confirmed that the container had been stolen. Legal action will be taken against the arrested individuals."
