Complaints of stockpiling arise in Satkhira filling station as hundreds stand in queue
While contacted, the government appointed “tag officer” for the filling station, Harun-or-Rashid, reported that the station currently has 5,144 litres of petrol and 1,735 litres of octane in stock.
Allegations of stockpiling petrol and octane have emerged against the authorities of the AB Khan filling station in Satkhira, while hundreds keep waiting in line.
Drivers have been waiting since early morning, facing severe inconvenience. They claimed that fuel is available but not being distributed due to a lack of administrative control and mismanagement.
The district administration allocated two shifts for fuel distribution: 8am–12pm and 3pm–7pm. Despite administrative instructions to begin fuel distribution from morning, the station has reportedly failed to comply.
While contacted, the government appointed "tag officer" for the filling station, Harun-or-Rashid, reported that the station currently has 5,144 litres of petrol and 1,735 litres of octane in stock.
He confirmed that distribution should have started in the morning, but could not explain the delay.
Cashier of the filling station, Belal Hossain, said they have only a small amount of fuel, and sales will resume once a new supply arrives.
Shatkhira Additional Deputy Commissioner Tajul Islam said, "The issue is being investigated."
