Committee formed to probe 15 years of recruitment irregularities at JnU

A committee has been formed to investigate alleged irregularities and corruption in the recruitment and promotions of Jagannath University over the past 15 years.
The probe body was formed, making Prof Md Rais Uddin, general secretary of Teachers' Association, as convenor today (22 May).
Earlier, a notice signed by Deputy Registrar Mohammad Moshirul Islam was issued, requesting submission of relevant information and evidence to the committee convenor by 30 June.
According to the notice, anyone with evidence of corruption or misconduct related to the recruitment and promotion or upgrading of teachers, officers, or staff between 2009 and August 2024 is requested to submit it in a sealed envelope by the deadline.
The notice assures that the identity of those will remain confidential.
Sources said allegations have surfaced regarding the transparency of several appointments and promotions over the last 15 years.
The authorities concerned welcomed the initiative, calling it a positive step toward ensuring greater transparency and accountability within the institution.
