One held for questioning after JnU student found murdered in Dhaka's Armanitola
The deceased, Md Jobayed Hossen, was a member of the university’s Chhatra Dal convening committee.

Police have detained a female student for questioning over the murder of Jagannath University (JnU) student Md Jobayed Hossain in Old Dhaka's Armanitola area.
Jobayed's blood-stained body was recovered from the staircase of a house on Panir Pump Goli yesterday evening (19 October), said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bangshal Police Station. The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
According to police, Jobayed used to tutor the female student, named Barsha, at the house where the incident took place. Preliminary investigation suggests that the student and her boyfriend might be involved in the killing, said Mallick Ahsan Uddin Sami, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Lalbagh Division.
Jobayed, a student of the Statistics Department (2019-20 session), was also a member of the JnU Chhatra Dal convening committee and president of the Cumilla District Students' Welfare Association.
CCTV footage from a nearby building shows two young men running from the scene — one wearing a black T-shirt and the other a pink one — around the time of the murder. However, their faces are not clearly visible, police said.
Additional CCTV footage from the surrounding area are being reviewed to confirm their identities, according to police.
Following the incident, Jagannath University students took to the streets in protest, demanding justice for Jobayed's murder.
Demonstrators blocked traffic at Tatibazar intersection around 10:30pm, bringing vehicular movement in the area to a halt.
Meanwhile, general students and members of the JnU Chhatra Dal have staged a sit-in in front of Bangshal Police Station, pressing for the immediate arrest of all those involved.
