Commerce adviser visits 11-yr-old girl who was brutally tortured at Biman CEO's home
During Bashir’s visit, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus also inquired about the child’s physical condition over the phone
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin has visited 11-year-old domestic worker, who was allegedly subjected to prolonged physical abuse and currently undergoing treatment at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.
During Bashir's visit, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus also inquired about the child's physical condition over the phone.
Bashir, also the Civil Aviation and Tourism adviser, spoke directly with the victim child and asked doctors in detail about her current physical condition and treatment.
He also spoke with the child's family members present there and instructed hospital authorities to ensure the highest possible medical care.
Quoting the chief adviser, Commerce Adviser Bashir Uddin told the journalist that the treatment inflicted on this child is a disgrace to the nation. He also stated that the government will bear all responsibilities, including medical expenses.
The commerce adviser further said, "Such cruelty toward a child cannot be accepted in any civilised society. Those responsible for such brutality will be punished."
Earlier, the child was hospitalised with severe burn injuries and marks of physical abuse after allegedly being tortured for months while working at the Uttara residence of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Md Shafiqur Rahman according to a case filed by her father.
So far, four people, including Shafiqur Rahman and his wife Bithi, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
