Clash over auto-rickshaw theft in Brahmanbaria leaves 30 injured, 25 houses burnt

At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two groups in the Noagaon Union of Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria, following a dispute over the theft of a CNG-run autorickshaw.
The clash took place intermittently from today (8 April) morning to noon in Terkanda village in Sarail between the factions of Chandar and Barek.
During the violent conflict, both sides reportedly vandalised, looted, and set fire to 20–25 houses.
Sub-Inspector Kabir Hossain of Sarail Police Station confirmed that four individuals have been detained in connection with the incident. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence.

According to police and local sources, the conflict stems from the theft of an auto-rickshaw belonging to Shahrul, son of Nanu Miah from Terkanda village, which occurred at the end of March.
Allegations pointed fingers at members of the Barek group, leading to rising tensions.
On Monday night, the two rival groups engaged in an initial clash, which escalated further on Tuesday morning when both sides armed themselves with local weapons and resumed fighting. The resulting violence left at least 30 people injured.
Police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
