CID constable stabbed, robbed of wallet and phone in Jatrabari

A constable of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police was stabbed and robbed of his wallet and mobile phone in the capital's Jatrabari area early today (20 October).
The injured officer, Md Russell Mia, 31, has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the matter, quoting doctors. He said the injured CID member was brought in during the morning and received treatment at the emergency department. The local police station has been informed of the incident.
Constable Md Russell Mia stays in the Rais Nagar area of Jatrabari, said Jasim Uddin, special superintendent of police at CID.
Nurul Islam, a neighbour who brought Russell to the hospital, said, "I live in the house next to his. Around 5:30am, Russell was riding his motorcycle through the Rayerbag area when 3–4 unidentified muggers stopped him, stabbed him in the hand, and snatched his wallet and mobile phone."
He added that they first took the injured constable to Rajarbagh Police Hospital and later transferred him to DMCH for better treatment.
