Case against Iresh Zaker is 'deeply troubling, deeply disturbing': Cultural adviser
"I know Iresh Zaker personally. I know he was also involved in the July movement. So this is deeply troubling, deeply disturbing," said Mostofa Sarwar Farooki

Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has called the filing of a case against Iresh Zaker over allegations of murder during the July uprising deeply troubling and disturbing.
"Now I am part of the government, not an activist. For this reason, I need to speak less and work more. I know Iresh Zaker personally. I know he was also involved in the July movement. So this is deeply troubling, deeply disturbing," he told reporters at the Secretariat today (28 April).
"An individual has filed the case. This is not a case filed by the state or the government. Now, everyone has gained the freedom to file cases. Some people are misusing this. I believe the police will properly investigate this, stand with what is true, and dismiss what is false," he added.
A case has been filed against actor Iresh Zaker and 407 others, including deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, with allegations of killing Mahfuz Alam Shraban in the capital's Mirpur during the July uprising.
On 20 April, the victim's brother, Mostafizur Rahman Bappi, filed the case application at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.
That day, the court recorded his statement and directed the officer-in-charge of Mirpur Model Police Station to register it as a regular case.
