CA Yunus orders quick purchase of bodycams for election transparency
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said training has already begun with the bodycams currently in stock.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has ordered the quick purchase of enough bodycams for law enforcement to ensure a transparent and peaceful national election.
He directed that the purchase and training process for bodycams be completed by December to prevent violence or unwanted incidents during the polls, said a press release from the Chief Adviser's Press Wing today (28 October).
Home Affairs Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant on ICT Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, and Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam attended the meeting.
The chief adviser said all election preparations must be completed quickly to build voters' confidence in a safe and fair environment.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said training has already begun with the bodycams currently in stock.
Home Adviser Jahangir Alam said, "Once new bodycams arrive, police members in all districts will receive training."
He added that the bodycams will help monitor polling centres in real time from central and district police offices.
