CA Yunus directs health ministry to send Nur abroad for better treatment
Probe committee will be given 15 days to investigate attack on Nur, law adviser said.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus today (2 September) directed the health ministry to take immediate measures to send Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur abroad for better treatment.
Nur was injured on 29 August as law enforcers charged batons after a clash broke out between activists of his party and Jatiyo Party in the capital's Kakrail.
"We are all shocked by this incident. We have taken all measures for his proper treatment. A judicial investigation is underway into the incident," Yunus said during a meeting with a delegation of Gono Odhikar Parishad, reads a statement issued by the CA's Press Wing.
Nur's wife Maria Akhter, party General Secretary Rashed Khan and senior joint General Secretary Hasan Al Mamun met the chief adviser at the State Guest House Jamuna this afternoon.
Maria Akhter broke down in tears while talking about Nur's physical condition, according to the Press Wing's statement.
She said Nur suffered a brain hemorrhage with a broken nose, and injuries to his jaw and spine and he needs to be taken abroad for better treatment.
Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan were present at the meeting.
The law adviser said a one-member committee led by Justice Ali Reza is being formed to investigate the attack.
The gazette in this regard will be published by Wednesday and the probe committee will complete its investigation within 15 days, he added.
