BSF hands over Swechasebak League leader to BGB after illegal entry into India

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over a leader of the Awami Swechasebak League to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after detaining him for his alleged illegal entry into India through the Tamabil border in Sylhet.
The detained individual, Mokhlesur Rahman Sumon. He is the central deputy secretary for social welfare of Awami League's volunteer wing, according to police sources.
Following the handover, BGB transferred Sumon to Gowainghat Police Station.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station Sarkar Tofael Ahmed said that a case would be filed against him for illegal border crossing.
BSF handed him over to BGB at the Tamabil border in Sylhet's Gowainghat upazila following a flag meeting between the two border forces this morning (12 July).
Sumon was initially detained by BSF yesterday (11 July) inside Indian territory near the Meghalaya border.
Sumon is a resident of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur district. There are allegations against him of involvement in the suppression of student protests during the anti-discrimination student movement.
