BGB seizes smuggled Indian goods worth Tk6cr from Sylhet border areas
The goods include Indian sarees, skin brightening creams, sunglasses, cattle, and boats used for illegal stone extraction

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled Indian goods worth approximately Tk6 crore during raids in several border areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj.
The operation was carried out by the BGB 48th Battalion in the early hours today (18 July), Commanding Officer Mohammad Nazmul Haque said at a press conference.
He said patrol teams from border outposts (BOPs) under the 48th battalion, including Protappur, Domdomia, Sreepur, Bichhanakandi, and Sonalichela, conducted the raids.

During the operation, a large quantity of Indian sarees, skin brightening creams, sunglasses, cattle, and boats used for illegal stone extraction were seized.
The seized goods are estimated to be worth around Tk6 crore in the local market, said the commanding officer.
Nazmul stated, "BGB is continuing its full-scale operational and intelligence activities to ensure border security and prevent smuggling and drug trafficking. Legal measures will be taken regarding the seized goods as per regulations."
He also emphasised that BGB is working with utmost vigilance and without any political influence to stop smuggling from India. He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend individuals involved in the smuggling operations.
