BD expects UK’s strong engagement for CVF, GCA: State Minister
He hoped that the UK and Bangladesh would build momentum ahead of COP26 for a resilient world
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam on Wednesday expressed his expectation for strong engagement of the United Kingdom both for the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and Global Center of Adaptation (GCA) in South Asia.
He manifested Bangladesh's strong interest to work closely with the UK government to make COP26 fully successful, said a press release.
Addressing a virtual event, Shahriar hoped that the UK and Bangladesh would build momentum ahead of COP26 for a resilient world.

He mentioned that Bangladesh being a non-emitter country, had been constantly bearing the burden of incessant carbon emission of the developed countries.
The state minister also highlighted that the government has prepared Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100, becoming the first LDC to establish a Climate Change Trust Fund.
The country has also developed a national "Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan" and launched the CVF "Midnight Survival Deadline for the Climate" initiative for all nations, said Shahriar.
He also cited the establishment of the South Asian regional office for GCA in Dhaka this September.
British State Minister Lord Ahmed also addressed the event stating that the UK-Bangladesh partnership on climate action was built on strong bonds between two countries and hoped that this bond would last even long beyond COP 26.
Ahmed reiterated the UK's commitment to double its International Climate Finance expenditure and its intention to spend half of the funding on adaptation and resilience.
