BCG organises free medical camp and awareness event in khulna
The Bangladesh Coast Guard West Zone conducted a day-long free medical campaign on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, as part of the Youth Festival 2025, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to supporting underprivileged communities in coastal and riverine regions.
Held in the Nalian area under Dakop Police Station in Khulna, the campaign ran from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and provided free medical check-ups and essential medicines to over 200 individuals, including children from low-income families.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid, Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, confirmed the initiative in the afternoon and said that such efforts are part of the organisation's broader mission to promote public welfare and community health in remote areas.
Alongside the healthcare services, the event featured a special awareness programme that brought together participants from the Naval Police, Department of Fisheries, Forest Department, local teachers and students. The session included discussions and hands-on training on patriotism, disaster preparedness and fire safety, aiming to build capacity among the younger generation for responding to emergencies.
"This programme is designed to educate and empower our youth with knowledge and values that foster resilience and volunteerism," said Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid, adding that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue to implement such community-focused initiatives in the future.
The Youth Festival 2025 event provided a meaningful platform for cross-agency collaboration and engagement, underscoring the Coast Guard's role in maritime security, as well as its contributions to social service and public awareness.
