Bangladeshi youth from Brahmanbaria killed fighting for Russia

A Bangladeshi youth from Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj upazila who took part in the Russia-Ukraine war on behalf of Russia has been killed.
The deceased was identified as Akram Hossain, 25, son of Morshed Mia from Hossainpur village under Lalpur union of the upazila.
The family of the deceased received the news of his death yesterday (18 April), said family sources.
Raffey Mohammad Chhrha, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Ashuganj, said, "We have been informed about the death of a youth from Ashuganj in the Ukraine-Russia war. Necessary steps will be taken to bring back his body through contacting the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment."
According to the relatives of the deceased, Akram went to Russia a year ago to bring solvency to his family.
At first, Akram took a job at a Chinese company. Not getting enough salary and deceived by brokers, Akram left the job and joined Russian forces to fight against Ukraine on a contractual basis some two and a half months ago, said the deceased's family.
He even uploaded a photo of himself wearing a Russian uniform on Facebook, said Akram's family.
Mobina Begum, Akram's mother, said, "Although we requested him not to go to the war, Akram told us there was no way he could return to Bangladesh. We used to communicate regularly, but we have not been able to reach him since 13 April."
"Yesterday, a compatriot of Akram informed us that my son was killed in a missile attack by Ukraine. I want my son's body to be sent back home," Akram's mother added.
Morshed Mia, Akram's father, said, "We talked with Akram for the last time on 13 April. He had told us that the war situation was not good. Also, Akram said there was no way for him to return."
