Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has said Bangladesh's active participation in UN peacekeeping missions stands as a testament to its enduring pledge toward establishing peace and stability in the world.

"I hope that through professional excellence, exceptional courage, humanity, self-sacrifice and integrity, our peacekeepers will continue to uphold Bangladesh's image in the world as a peace-building nation," he said.

CA Yunus, in his message on the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, wished the observance of the day a great success.

"I firmly believe that the members of the Armed Forces and Police, who are experienced in peacekeeping operations, will continue their relentless work to prevent conflict, protect civilians, ensure human rights, and establish peace," Prof Yunus said.

On the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers 2025, he extended his heartiest felicitations and congratulations to all the members of UN peacekeepers.

Prof Yunus paid his humble tribute to those courageous peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifices in the line of duty, glorifying the noble cause of peace.

Like many other countries, Bangladesh will observe the day today with various programmes recalling the contributions peacekeepers in global peace and security.

The day's programmes will begin with a "Peacekeepers' Rally 2025" in the morning. Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury is expected to inaugurate the rally, reads an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.

Later in the day, a special reception will take place at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre to honour injured peacekeepers and showcase Bangladesh's extensive involvement in peacekeeping missions.

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed will attend the reception as the chief guest. This year, two injured peacekeepers will be recognised for their exceptional courage and service.

"Over the course of four decades of peacekeeping, Bangladeshi peacekeepers have successfully participated in 63 UN missions across 43 countries and regions around the world," the ISPR said. Currently, 5,818 Bangladeshi peacekeepers, including 444 women, are serving in 10 UN missions and operations globally.

Since Bangladesh began participating in peacekeeping missions, 168 of its peacekeepers have been killed in the line of duty.
