Bangladesh, Maldives discuss stronger tourism ties, express interest in signing MoU

Bangladesh and the Maldives have emphasised strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the tourism sector, during a courtesy meeting between Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and Maldivian Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed, reads a press release.
The meeting took place today (27 April) at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat was also present at the meeting.
During the discussion, both sides held detailed talks on utilising the Maldives' experience and cooperation in developing Bangladesh's tourism sector, especially Cox's Bazar and Kuakata sea beaches.
At the meeting, both sides expressed interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector.
It was noted that such an initiative would facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise, development of tourism infrastructure, and joint initiatives between the two countries.
The ambassador reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to working closely with Bangladesh and assured continued maximum cooperation with the current government.
