Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad panel fails to secure any post in Ducsu elections
Despite their heavy campaign during the promotional events and strong presence on social media, BGCS did not secure any of the 28 central posts

The Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Sangsad (BGCS) panel, led by Students Against Discrimination (SAD) leaders Abdul Kader and Abu Baker Mojumdar, failed to secure any position in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election held yesterday (9 September), as none of its candidates could win against the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed contenders.
In the race for vice-president (VP), BGCS nominee Abdul Kader received 1,103 votes, while Shibir leader Md Abu Shadik (Kayem) was elected vice-president (VP) with 14,042 votes.
For the general secretary (GS) post, BGCS candidate Abu Baker Mojumdar secured 2,131 votes, compared to Shibir leader SM Farhad who won with 10,794 votes.
In the assistant general secretary (AGS) contest, Ashrefa Khatun of BGCS obtained 900 votes, while Shibir-backed candidate Muhammad Mohiuddin Khan clinched the post with 11,772 votes.
The Islami Chhatra Shibir secured a sweeping victory overall, winning 23 out of 28 central committee posts, including the key VP and GS positions.
The BGCS panel, titled "Boishommobirodhi Shikkharthi Sangsad," nominated three candidates in the central committee elections. Some other BGCS leaders and activists, along with former leaders of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD), also contested individually.
However, despite their heavy campaign during the promotional events and strong presence on social media, the organisation did not secure any of the 28 central posts.
BGCS was launched on 26 February 2025 by coordinators of the Students Against Discrimination, who earlier gained visibility during campus movements.
