Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu celebrates golden jubilee of independence

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of Bangladesh's Independence with due festivity on Wednesday.

The day began with the hoisting of the national flag in the embassy premises by Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury in the presence of the officials of the embassy, members of Bangladesh community, and visiting members of Bangladesh Football Federation including the media team, read a press release.

A special prayer was offered for the salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his martyred family members, all the valiant freedom fighters and martyrs of the war of liberation and for the peace, progress and prosperity of Bangladesh.

Messages of the President, Prime Minister, foreign minister and state minister for foreign affairs were read out. 

A discussion session on the glorious liberation war and on the life, sacrifice and achievements of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in creation of an independent sovereign Bangladesh.

On 30 March 2021, the embassy organised a cultural event as part of celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh. The visiting Bangladesh national football team as well as the office bearers of Bangladesh Football Federation and members of print and electronic media covering the Three Nations Cup 2021 attended the event. The cultural programme was performed by the members of Bangladesh community and some Nepalese Artists.
