Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has blamed the backlog of different cases for the sluggish progress of sensitive cases, including ones filed over rape claims.
“The Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry is yet to set up a special tribunal for narcotics cases,” Kamal said at a view-exchange meeting of Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum at the Home Ministry auditorium on Thursday.
He said a probe had already been launched into land grabbing allegations against Additional Deputy Inspector General Gazi Muzzamul Hoq.

“The authority will take action against Muzzamul If his involvement in the incident is found,” said the home boss.
The minister said the e-passport project would be initiated from this month, and the prime minister would inaugurate the programme when she has time.
He said 2.5 crore people in the country had already received machine readable passports (MRP).
