Army chief stresses discipline, humanitarian values for national progress
He made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of the 3rd International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Applied Science as the chief guest.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the chief of army staff of the Bangladesh Army, today (19 July) underscored the need for discipline and humanitarian values to overcome global challenges and advance the country's development.
"Without being humane and good people, the country's development is not possible," he said while addressing the closing ceremony of the 3rd International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Applied Science as the chief guest.
The event was held at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) at Dhaka Cantonment in the capital.
The army chief noted, "We are producing great scholars, great engineers, great doctors, great civil servants, great military officers, but without the ethics, without the ethical teaching, without making them good human being, country will not be benefited."
"That is why I always encourage you to be disciplined, good human being and of course with your intellect, you will be great engineers, great citizen of this country," he added.
Regarding the conference, he said that the forum has sought as a platform of fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, technological development and inspiring novel approaches to real world challenges.
He said that he believes this conference has served as a dynamic platform to witness a rich exchange of ideas, rigorous academic discourse and the presentation of pioneer research across a broad spectrum of mechanical and applied science disciplines.
"It will surely help to learn new things and build new connections."
To the delegates, researchers, and contributors, who were present at the event, he said their dedication to advancing knowledge and willingness to engage in constructive dialogue are deeply appreciated.
"I hope your experience in MIST has been intellectually enriching and enjoyable."
To the students and emerging scholars, he encouraged them to keep pushing boundaries, remain curious and stay committed to innovation.
