Another shipment of over 56,000 tonnes of US wheat arrives at Ctg port
Under G to G-02 agreement, a total of 220,000 tonnes of wheat will be imported
Another consignment of 56,890 tonnes of wheat from the United States (US) has arrived at Chittagong Port.
MV EVITA, carrying the wheat, docked at the outer anchorage of the country's premier seaport today (28 December), reads a statement from the Ministry of Food.
Bangladesh is importing wheat from the US on a government-to-government (G to G) basis.
Under the G to G-01 agreement, Bangladesh has already imported a total of 220,000 tonnes of wheat.
Under the G to G-02 agreement, another 220,000 tonnes of wheat will be imported, while the first consignment of 56,890 tonnes arrived today.
Of today's shipment, 34,134 tonnes of wheat will be unloaded at Chattogram Port, while the remaining 22,756 tonnes will be discharged at Mongla Port.
The process of testing samples of the wheat carried by the vessel has already begun.
Necessary steps will be taken to ensure quick unloading of the wheat after completion of the sample testing, officials said.
