The local Awami League has issued a show cause notice to the father of Jharna, 'second wife' of Hefazat-e-Islam joint secretary general Maulana Mamunul Haque, who is also a leader of Awami League.

The notice was sent to him through a letter signed by Faridpur's Alfadanga upazila Gopalpur union Awami League President Md Monaim Khan and general secretary Md Farid Uddin over their alleged link with Hefazat-e-Islam.

The news of the second marriage of Hefazat leader Maulana Mamunul Haque has come out April 3 after Mamunul was detained by local people at a resort in Narayanganj.

His alleged second wife's name is Jannat Ara Jharna. She is the daughter of freedom fighter Md Waliyar Rahman alias Oli of Kamargram in Gopalpur union. Waliyar Rahman is the president of ward 4 Kamargram Awami League under Gopalpur union.

Party sources said, Waliyar Rahman has been served a show cause notice from the Awami League as his family members have been found linked to Hefazat-e-Islam after the Royal Resort incident.

Waliyar Rahman never informed the party leaders about his family's involvement with Hefazat-e-Islam. Therefore, it is mentioned in the notice that there is a risk that the organisational work plan of Awami League may be leaked through him.

The notice also asked for a satisfactory reply within the next seven working days.
