The first phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema will conclude tomorrow with the Akheri Munajat to be held sometime between 9am to 9:30am.

To facilitate the large gathering, the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) has announced a traffic suspension around the Ijtema ground starting at 12am tomorrow (2 February), said GMP Commissioner Md Nazmul Karim Khan during a press briefing today (1 February).

"Security and detective surveillance have been increased for the Akheri Munajat," said Nazmul.

According to him, the roads which will be blocked include - Tongi-Abdullahpur section of Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, Tongi to Gazipur's Bhogra Bypass, Abdullahpur-Baipail section of Abdullahpur-Nabinagar-Chandra highway, Tongi-Kamarpara road and Tongi-Kaliganj road.

These roads will be reopened after the devotees leave the Ijtema ground, said Nazmul.

During the press briefing, the commissioner also provided alternative directions for vehicles.

"Vehicles which will move towards Mymensingh and Gazipur have been instructed to use the Gabtoli-Konabari road. Also, vehicles which will move towards Dhaka from Mymensingh have been advised to use the Bhogra Bypass-300 feet road," the commissioner added.

The commissioner further said no goods-laden vehicles will be allowed to ply on the roads surrounding the Ijtema ground during this period.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Railway has arranged nine special trains for the devotees' return.

The government has also kept extra buses available for the transportation of the Ijtema devotees.
