AI poses bigger threat than weapons in upcoming election: CEC
Artificial intelligence (AI) may present a greater threat than conventional weapons in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections, warned Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.
Speaking to reporters at the Khulna Regional Election Office today, the CEC described the misuse of AI as a "modern threat" that could be more dangerous than physical arms.
"The commission remains alert to prevent any technology-based interference that may influence the polls," he said.
Nasir Uddin said restoring voter confidence and ensuring their presence at polling stations, particularly female voters, remains the biggest challenge for the commission.
"We want a transparent election. No activities will take place under the cover of darkness; everything will be done in daylight to ensure transparency," the CEC added.
On security measures, he said, "Anti-crime drives and operations to recover illegal weapons will continue ahead of the election. If we fail to deliver a free and fair election, questions will arise about Bangladesh's future."
