Adviser Asif Mahmud responds to allegations over father's involvement in triple murder case

Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has called for a fact-based and impartial investigation by the media into the triple murder in Muradnagar, Cumilla, following allegations against his father.
During a press conference at the National Press Club this morning, Ruma Akter — a relative of the victims — demanded the arrest of Asif Mahmud's father, Billal Master, accusing him of being involved in ordering the killings of a mother, son, and daughter.
Responding to the allegation, Asif Mahmud posted a statement on Facebook this evening. He urged journalists to consider all sides of the story and avoid being influenced by what he described as scripted narratives.
He wrote, "After one and a half months of the Muradnagar triple murder, a family member read from a script at a press conference demanding my father's arrest. Yet, in an earlier interview aired on Banglavision, the same person said: 'Since the real suspects haven't been arrested, the adviser's father might be involved.' (Although around nine suspects have been arrested already.)"
The adviser further said, "Today's press conference was scripted. The murders were planned at a BNP leader's home, but the blame is now being shifted to my father.
"Not the entire victim's family agrees with this narrative, but part of them does. Initially, his name was never mentioned. Later, under political pressure, a smear campaign began."
