ACC summons Bhola MP Nurunnabi’s PA over illegal casino business

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Hossain Sohrab Uddin Shah, personal assistant of Bhola-3 lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon, who was involved in selling liquors and illegal casino businesses.

Confirming the matter, ACC Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said that the anti-graft watchdog has sent letter asking him to be present at its Segunbagicha headquarters on March 11 morning.

After the casino scandal came to light, some of the parliament members were in the ACC investigation list.

Among them MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon, Moamzzem Hossain Ratan, the ruling party MP in Sunamganj-4 constituency, Awami League politician and a present Member of Parliament from Chittagong-12 Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, Pankaj Debnath from Barisal are listed by ACC.

Meanwhile, the ACC has questioned Moazzem Hossain Ratan last month.

Initially, the investigation was launched against 43 people but now the list has become larger with more than 200 people, according to an ACC high-level sources.

A 5-member ACC investigation team led by its Director Sayed Iqbal Hossain began to probe over amassing illegal wealth followed by the anti-casino raids in September last year.
