ACC arrests 2 govt officials in Chattogarm

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested two government officials with Tk7 lakh in cash and several cheques worth around Tk90 lakh from Sholoshahar Shopping Complex in Chattogram on Thursday.

The ACC members arrested Nazrul Islam, chainman at Fatikchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office and Taslim Uddin, a staff of Chattogram District Administration, from a shop in the port city.

Ratan Kumar Das, assistant director of Anti-Corruption Commission's Integrated District Office in Chattogram-2 said, "Based on secret information that bribing is taking place, the ACC team raided a shop at Sholoshahar Shopping Complex and seized the money and cheques."

The duo could not show any legal documents, he said.

Previously, Nazrul Islam was transferred from the Land Acquisition Office of the Chattogram District Administration on charges of irregularities three years ago.
