Hearing begins today against 30 accused in Abu Sayed murder case

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 will hear the charge-framing against 30 accused in the case over the killing of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed during the July Uprising today (28 July).
The three-member bench of the ICT-2 led by its chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury will likely frame the charges against the accused.
Six accused, including former proctor of Begum Rokeya University Shariful Islam, former assistant sub-inspector of police Amir Hossain, constable Sujon Chandra Roy and Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury have been produced before the tribunal.
Earlier, on 30 June the prosecution formally submitted the charges. The tribunal accepted the charges against all 30 accused on the same day.
The prosecution said they will seek the commencement of the trial against all the accused.
On 22 July, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 declared 24 individuals including the former vice chancellor of Begum Rokeya University and the former police commissioner of Rangpur as fugitives.
Meanwhile, eight people in the Ashulia case involving the burning of six bodies and three people in a case from Lakshmipur have also been produced before the tribunal.
