Abdur Rahman appointed as PSC secretary
Meanwhile, former PSC secretary Md Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan has been transferred to the Ministry of Labour and Employment as its new secretary.
Despite being appointed as secretary to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Md Abdur Rahman Tarafdar has instead been reassigned as secretary to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification yesterday (14 September) confirming the new appointment.
Meanwhile, former PSC secretary Md Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan has been transferred to the Ministry of Labour and Employment as its new secretary.
The secretary position at the labour ministry fell vacant after AHM Safiquzzaman went on post-retirement leave (PRL) on 28 August.
On the same day, the government promoted Additional Secretary Md Abdur Rahman Tarafdar of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works to the rank of secretary and appointed him to the labour ministry.
Officials said when Abdur Rahman went to join the labour ministry, labour adviser asked him to assume charge a few days later.
However, upon returning as advised, he was unable to take charge as secretary.
Subsequently, he resumed duties at his previous office in the housing and public works ministry until his latest posting.
