A joint drive by mobile court and DMP Traffic (Uttara division) has resulted in 94 cases being filed and Tk1.15 lakh fine imposed to enforce the 'Silent Zone' in and around Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), aiming to curb noise pollution and protect the environment.
The drive was conducted today (25 January) by the Department of Environment (DoE) in coordination with Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Civil Aviation Authority, City Corporation, and DMP Special or Executive Magistrates.
Five mobile courts operated in the airport area, taking action against vehicles violating the Noise Pollution Control Rules, 2025.
During the operation, the mobile courts filed 58 cases and collected fines totalling Tk20,200.
Meanwhile, the DMP Traffic (Uttara division) conducted separate enforcement activities, filing 36 cases and collecting fines amounting to Tk95,000.
Authorities said such joint operations will continue regularly to ensure strict implementation of the silent zone around Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and to raise public awareness about noise pollution control.
