86 Bangladeshis return from KSA as deportation spree on
They were sent back to Bangladesh even though they had work permits
As many as 86 Bangladeshi workers have returned home from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Thursday. The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment said a total of 1,647 workers have returned from the middle eastern country in the first two weeks of this November.
The ministry desk at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport says most of the expatriates claimed that they were sent back to Bangladesh even though they had work permits (Akama).
According to the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), a total of 74,686 Bangladeshi workers were sent back from Saudi Arabia in the last five years as part of the deportation spree.

A total of 16,451 workers returned till October in 2019.
The year 2018 saw the highest number of returnees, with 19,210 workers coming back to Bangladesh from the Arab country.
