At least eight workers were injured after a compressor exploded at a cement factory in Narayanganj's Bandar upazila on Saturday evening (10 January).
The explosion occurred at a factory of Akij Group in the Kadam Rasul area.
The injured workers were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately.
Confirming the incident, Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Mukhtar Ashraf said the factory has a small automatic compressor machine used to produce plastic bags. The machine contains hot oil used in the manufacturing process.
"On Saturday evening, the compressor exploded with a loud sound. As a result, glass windows broke and hot oil splashed around, injuring the workers," he said.
The OC added that none of the injured workers are in critical condition and all are out of danger.
