7 injured as bus carrying workers catches fire in Gazipur

At least seven workers were injured, one critically, when a fire broke out on a bus carrying workers of Charka Textile, a concern of Pran-RFL Group, in the Sombazar area of Kaliganj, Gazipur, yesterday evening (26 February).
The critically injured worker was transferred to Dhaka for treatment.
According to Kaliganj Fire Service, police, and workers, the bus was transporting the workers via the Water Development Board road in Tumilia union, heading towards Tongi. Suddenly, the bus caught fire, which quickly spread, engulfing the entire vehicle, including its CNG cylinder. As workers rushed to escape, at least seven sustained injuries.
Locals attempted to douse the flames and alerted the Kaliganj Fire Service. A fire service unit began firefighting at around 6:50pm and managed to fully extinguish the fire by 7:15pm.
The injured workers were treated at Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.
"Initial findings suggest that the fire started due to a mechanical fault or a gas cylinder leak," said Senior Firefighter Atikur Rahman of Kaliganj Fire Service.
Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Alauddin said, "The fire was caused by a gas cylinder. It was not an act of sabotage, and no complaints have been filed regarding the incident."
