6 govt officials, including 5 secretaries, sent on forced retirement

The government has sent five secretaries and one Grade-1 official into forced retirement.
Separate gazette notifications were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration in this regard last night (19 June).
The officials include Kazi Enamul Hasan, director general (secretary) of Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board, Sukesh Kumar Sarkar, director general (secretary) of the National Academy for Planning and Development, Muhammad Ibrahim, chairman (secretary) of the Land Appeal Board, Dr Md Shahid Ullah, rector (secretary) of the National Academy for Development Administration, Mohammad Salah Uddin, secretary currently attached as officer on special duty (OSD) and Dr Lipika Bhadra, chairman of the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (Grade-1).
The retirements were made under Section-45 of the Public Service Act, which allows the government to send any public servant into retirement without prior notice or explanation once they have completed 25 years of service.
The gazette notifications stated that the officials will receive retirement benefits as per existing rules and regulations.
Earlier, several other top officials were also sent into forced retirement.
