3 ex-MPs among 5 shown arrested in cases linked to July uprising

Three former members of parliament—Sadeq Khan, AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha, and Kazi Monirul Islam Manu—along with two former senior police officials, have been shown arrested in new cases regarding the July uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi today (30 July) approved the police's plea to show them arrested in the respective cases.
The other two accused are former additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of police Rafiqul Islam and former officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan.
According to case records, Kazi Monirul Islam Manu has been implicated in six separate cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station. Former OC Abul Hasan was sued in connection with the murder of student Hasan Uddin in Jatrabari area.
Sarwar Jahan Badsha is accused in a case over attempted to murder of a man named Sohel Rana, while Sadeq Khan was shown arrested in a case over murder of a person named Md Hossain, both filed at Mohammadpur Police Station.
Meanwhile, ADC Rafiqul has been shown arrested in a murder case involving a person named Iman, filed at Badda Police Station.
Former MP Sadeq Khan, who also served as general secretary of the Dhaka North unit of the Awami League, was arrested on 24 August last year. Kazi Monirul Islam Manu was taken into custody on 21 April this year, and Sarwar Jahan Badsha was arrested on 17 June.
ADC Rafiqul, who served with the Gulshan division of police, was arrested on 17 October last year. Former OC Abul Hasan was arrested on 17 September last year
