28 injured, 2 missing as bus plunges into ditch in Sylhet

At least 28 passengers were injured and two others remain missing after a bus veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch in the Ferryghat area of Jaintapur upazila in Sylhet yesterday (1 August).
The incident occurred around 7:40pm on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway when a Gate Lock Paribahan bus, carrying 32 passengers from Jaflong to Sylhet, collided with an easybike coming from the same direction. The impact caused the bus to lose control and tumble into the ditch.

Mohammad Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Tamabil Highway Police Station, said, "Our team responded immediately and carried out rescue operations with the help of locals and the fire service. Efforts are still underway to locate the two missing passengers."
Seven of the injured, who were in critical condition, were referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after receiving initial treatment at Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex. The remaining 21 injured passengers were treated at the local health facility.
