20 shops gutted in Faridpur fire
Around 20 shops were completely burned down, causing losses of at least Tk1 crore

At least 20 shops were burned to ashes in a devastating fire that broke out at Kadirdi Bazar in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur last night (18 October).

The fire originated around 10pm at Nasir's clothing shop in Bachchu Mollah Market, according to locals and the Fire Service. It quickly spread to adjacent grocery, pharmacy, tea, clothing, seed, and shoe shops before firefighters and locals managed to bring it under control after an hour-long effort.
Locals from both Boalmari and Madhukhali fire stations rushed to the scene to douse the flames.
Local resident Nishikanta Das told The Business Standard, "The fire started at Nasir's clothing shop in Bachchu Mollah Market. Around 20 shops were completely burned down, causing losses of at least Tk1 crore."
Former member of Satoir Union Parishad's Ward 1, Md Faruk Hossain, said, "The cause of the fire is still unknown. Around 20 to 25 shops were completely gutted, resulting in losses worth several crores of taka. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after about an hour."

Confirming the incident, Madhukhali Fire Service Station Officer Rashedul Alam said, "Around 20 shops were burned in the fire. Upon receiving the news, we rushed to the spot and worked to control it. The source of the fire is yet to be determined, and details about the affected shop owners will be known later."
Authorities said the extent of the damages and the full list of affected traders are being assessed.
