20-foot-long python rescued in Bagerhat, released into Sundarbans
The snake weighing 55 kg was recovered after a search and later released into the Sundarbans with the help of forest guards

A 20-foot-long python was recovered from a village in Sharankhola, Bagerhat, yesterday (21 March) after it attempted to prey on a goat.
Locals said the snake caught a goat belonging to Marium Begum of Sonatala village and dragged it into the garden of her neighbour Malek's house in the Tajur Gate area.
Hearing the goat's cries, Marium Begum alerted villagers, who rushed to the spot with members of the Community Patrolling Group (CPG) and the Village Tiger Response Team (VTRT).

Sensing human presence, the python released the goat and took shelter in a nearby bush.
After a search, the snake weighing 55 kg was recovered and later released into the Sundarbans with the help of forest guards.
Md Alam Hawladar, a representative of the Sharankhola upazila VTRT team, said the discovery of such a large python had caused panic among locals, especially concerning the safety of children and livestock.
Md Faruk Hossain, station officer of East Sundarbans Sharankhola Station, confirmed that the snake was released into the forest near the station.
He advised residents of forest-adjacent areas to remain cautious and urged them not to harm pythons if encountered.
