5-metre-long python seen slithering in flooded Bali street
No snakebite incidents have been reported so far.
A video showing a large python swimming through floodwaters in Bali has widely circulated on various social media platforms after days of heavy rainfall inundated parts of the Indonesian island.
The footage, reportedly filmed from a residential balcony on 24 February, shows the five-metre-long snake gliding through submerged streets and villa courtyards as residents looked on, according to a TRT World report.
No snakebite incidents have been reported so far.
Meanwhile, NDTV, an Indian media outlet, reported the sighting follows nearly three days of continuous rain that left several neighbourhoods waterlogged, with roads partially submerged and vehicles stranded.
Authorities advised residents and tourists to avoid flooded areas while emergency teams were deployed.
Bali is home to the reticulated python, a species native to Indonesia known for its size and strong swimming ability. Some local accounts suggested that snakes seen during the flooding measured several metres in length.
Indonesia's meteorological agency has issued high-level alerts in parts of the country, warning that heavy rainfall may continue.
