2 DB police officers shot during anti-drug raid in Dhaka

Two members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police sustained bullet injuries after suspected drug dealers opened fire during a raid near the Central Police Hospital in the capital in the early hours today (19 June).
The incident took place around 12:45am.
The injured officers have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Atik Hasan and Constable Sujon, both from the Lalbagh unit of DB.
According to police, a DB team was conducting an anti-narcotics operation based on a tip-off. As they intercepted a vehicle suspected of carrying drug dealers, the occupants opened fire on the officers, injuring two of them.
The injured were quickly rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors said that ASI Atik Hasan is in critical condition.
Sub-Inspector Masud Alam of the DMCH police camp confirmed that both injured officers were brought to the hospital at night.
Three individuals have been detained along with a private car in connection with the incident, police said.
