2 businesses fined in Agargaon for hoarding 296 litres of fuel
Authorities recovered 158 litres of octane and 138 litres of diesel – 296 litres in total – from the two businesses, said RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Md Shamsul Islam.
A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) has fined two businesses in Dhaka's Agargaon for illegally hoarding fuel, seizing a total of 296 litres during a drive today (2 April).
The penalised establishments, Messrs Bhai Bhai Oil Service and Messrs Shaheen Traders, were each fined Tk2,000 by RAB Executive Magistrate Md Abu Hasan.
During the drive, authorities recovered 158 litres of octane and 138 litres of diesel – 296 litres in total – from the two businesses, said RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Md Shamsul Islam.
He said a syndicate has recently become active in creating an artificial fuel crisis in different parts of the country to make excessive profits.
He added that some dishonest traders are hoarding fuel and selling it at inflated prices in the open market, while consumers are being turned away from filling stations on the pretext of supply shortages.
As part of ongoing efforts to curb such practices, the official said, RAB-2 conducted the drive in the Agargaon area under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
