16 BNP men sued over alleged attack on ex-MP AK Azad's Faridpur home

A case has been filed against 16 leaders and activists of the Faridpur Metropolitan BNP, accusing them of attacking the Faridpur residence of Ha-Meem Group Managing Director and former MP for Faridpur-3, AK Azad.
The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Faridpur Kotwali Police Station yesterday evening (4 July) by Mohammad Rafizul Khan, land officer of Ha-Meem Group, who was reportedly present at the scene during the incident.
According to the FIR, around 3:45pm on Thursday (3 July), a group of BNP members allegedly entered AK Azad's house in the city's Jhiltuli area, verbally abused the staff, and issued threats.
The complaint states that Golam Mostofa, member secretary of the metropolitan BNP, threatened, "Your sir AK Azad should not come to Faridpur. If he does, we will kill him and float his body in the Padma. We will burn down all his houses, offices, and businesses."
Rafizul Khan claimed the incident caused panic among employees and created fear in the surrounding area.
The FIR named 16 individuals, including Shahriar Hossain, member secretary of the District Swechchhasebak Dal; Nazmul Hasan Chowdhury, former general secretary of Kotwali Thana BNP; Mizanur Rahman, joint convener of Metropolitan BNP; Mohammad Nahidul Islam, organising secretary of Metropolitan Jubo Dal; and Captain Sohagh, vice-president of Metropolitan Chhatra Dal. It also accused 30 unidentified individuals.
In response to the allegations, Golam Mostofa told reporters, "We went to the house after hearing there was a secret Awami League meeting taking place. No one made any threats or threw stones. The complainant will have to prove the allegations."
Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md Abdul Jalil confirmed, "We have received the written complaint. Legal action will be taken after investigation."
