14 police officers suspended for going into hiding after July uprising
They are believed to have fled the country, fearing arrest in connection with criminal cases related to the uprising

Fourteen police officers have been suspended for going into hiding and being absent from work after the 2024 July uprising.
The home ministry issued the suspensions today (29 June), citing violations under Rule 3(c) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
The officers include former superintendents of police, additional deputy commissioners, and assistant commissioners who held key posts in various districts and within the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
According to a notification signed by home ministry's Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani, the suspensions took effect on 18 September 2024.
The suspended officials are: former additional superintendent of police Hasanuzzaman Molya, former additional deputy commissioner of DMP's Wari Division Masudur Rahman Monir, former additional superintendent of police Shah Md Akhtarul Islam, former Rangpur superintendent of police Md Shahjahan, former DMP additional deputy commissioners SM Jahangir Hasan, Ikhtekhairul Islam, Rubaiyat Zaman, and Mishu Biswas, former DMP assistant commissioner Mohammad Imrul, former Rangpur Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Al Imran Hossain, former assistant superintendent of police Mahmudul Hasan, former superintendent of police Sanowar Hossain, former Narayanganj superintendent of police Golam Mostafa Russell, and DMP Wari Division additional deputy commissioner SM Shamim.
Sources at the home ministry and police said most of these officers did not report for duty after 5 August. Many are believed to have fled the country via India, fearing arrest in connection with criminal cases related to the uprising, they said.
