Police will demonstrate neutrality, responsibility in elections: IGP
The police will be able to demonstrate professionalism, neutrality, and a strong sense of responsibility in the upcoming national parliamentary election, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said today (27 January).
"The Bangladesh Police is currently at a critical juncture, and efforts are underway to boost the morale of police personnel and restore public confidence," he made the remarks while addressing probationary assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) of the 27th BCS (police) batch, initially selected in 2008 and who recently joined service, at the Police Headquarters' Hall of Integrity.
Officers of the 27th batch were appointed after enduring years of recruitment deprivation and completing a prolonged legal process.
Congratulating the probationary ASPs, the IGP said the moment marks not only a personal achievement but also the restoration of their rightful position.
He noted that the victory of the July Uprising had opened the door to ending their long-standing deprivation, allowing them to reclaim their legitimate rights.
Baharul Alam urged the officers to undergo training at the Bangladesh Police Academy with punctuality, discipline, and strict adherence to rules and regulations.
Among the probationary ASPs, there are 60 officers from the 27th batch, one from the 28th batch, and six from the 43rd batch.
Senior officials present at the event included Additional IGP (Administration) AKM Awlad Hossain, Additional IGP (Finance) Md Akram Hossain, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Khondoker Rafiqul Islam, Additional IGP (Logistics) Musleh Uddin Ahmed, and Additional IGP (Development) Sardar Nurul Amin.
