10 shops gutted by fire in Faridpur’s Alfadanga

At least 10 shops were gutted in a fire at a local market in Faridpu's Alfadanga upazila last night (5 March).
In charge of Alfadanga Fire Service Station, Aslam Hossain, said the fire erupted from an electric short-circuit at a shop at Bana Bazar around 11:30pm and burned down adjoining grocery, cosmetic, and restaurant shops.
A firefighting unit from the station rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control after a half hour of efforts, he said.
However, the affected claimed that valuables worth Tk 25 to 30 lakh were damaged.
