A python measuring about 10 feet in length was rescued from a tree near the Kashiabad Police Outpost in Koyra upazila of Khulna this morning (17 June).
Forest department officials rescued the snake with the help of locals around 8am and later released it deep into the Sundarbans, said Md Shafiqul Islam (Shahed), officer of Kashiabad Forest Station.
According to local sources, residents first spotted the large python on a tree near the outpost and informed the police.
The officer-in-charge of the outpost then notified the forest department.
Responding to the call, Kashiabad Forest Station officials, accompanied by forest workers, arrived at the scene and rescued the snake with assistance from locals.
