Thakurgaon-1: Mirza Fakhrul takes lead in 20 centres
After results from 20 out of 185 polling centres, Mirza Fakhrul, contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol, secured 22,210 votes.
According to unofficial results of the 13th national election, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is leading in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
After results from 20 out of 185 polling centres, Mirza Fakhrul, contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol, secured 22,210 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami–nominated candidate Delawar Hossain, received 13,567 votes.
Sources at the district election office said a total of 20 candidates are contesting the election across Thakurgaon's three parliamentary constituencies this time, including two women candidates. Of them, seven candidates are contesting in Thakurgaon-2 and ten in Thakurgaon-3.
The district has a total of 1,255,017 registered voters across the three constituencies. Among them, 598,488 are women, 670,022 are men, and seven are hijra voters.
In addition, 10,292 voters registered to cast their votes through postal ballots, including 2,326 women and 7,966 men.
